Orange Churidar--Indian Fashion

My best friend's arangetram was today. And arangetram is a debut performance. She does Indian classical dance. My grandparents brought Indian clothes for me, so here is my new churidar, which is kind of like Indian skinny-ish pants with a kurtha and a scarf called a chuni.
Enjoy a taste of Indian fashion.

Paisley and Pink

I am not a paisley kind-of girl. And I am definitely not a pink kind of girl. But my outfit today reminds me of pastels and sorbet and lovely things that take my mind off of the over-100 degree weather.
This shirt is so girly that it somehow is not that girly. Does that make sense? Just say it does. And the skirt is minty and fantastic and breezy and comfortable. Love it. Perfect for summer.
By the way, giveaways are being planned behind the scenes. And I know you love free stuff.

Details

Awkward and Awesome, Once Again

Awkward
Doesn't that lovely face say it all?

1. Looking at the screen and realizing that your fingers were shifted one key to the right, and therefore all the words you typed were incorrect. Or should I say, ;ppslonh sy yjr dvtrrf snf trslicinh yhsy yout ginhrtd ertr dhigyrf, snf sll yhr eotfd you yu[rf ertr onvpttrvy. Please do not check if that is exactly one to the right.
2. Spilling yogurt on your shirt and being too lazy to change. Hey, it's barely visible.
3. Standing in front of your closet to pick an outfit and staring into space for a full minute before realizing why you are in your closet.
4. Typing this post and realizing how many awkward things actually happen to you.
5. And of course, sending an email to the wrong address. And then sending another email to that very same wrong address. Seriously?

Awesome
Actually, this fact is rather awkward as well.
Where are the teeth?
What is with those uneven eyes?

1. Sleeping in.
2. Having anything-but-oatmeal for breakfast. Ok, oatmeal is fine, but a piping hot bowl of oatmeal with strawberries and almond powder and other various powders when it is 90 degrees is excruciating.
3. Finally organizing your closet. Actually finding out that you have clothes and do not need to go shopping. Of course, this takes away the excuse to shop. Let's just say almost awesome. Saving money is pretty awesome.
4.  Hauling six huge bags of old clothing to the clothing donation center. That warm and fuzzy feeling that you get when you are doing a good deed is priceless. Forget the fact that you donated that shirt that you loved so much in elementary school. It doesn't fit, no matter how much you suck in. GET OVER IT.
5. Being six months into your no-new-shoes-for-a-year-vow without cracking. The other day, I tried on a pair. I put them back. I am so proud. Excuse me while I go commend myself and shed a few tears over this monumental accomplishment. (Forget the fact that I only succeeded because I avoided the shoe section and wore high tops to the mall most of the time to avoid trying on shoes).

Side note, have to try these nail ideas.

Midweek Musings: Blogger Awards

I have to admit, I am trying to weave together the fact that Becky from Preppy Premed nominated me for the  One Lovely Blog Award and the fact that I like to post Midweek Musings on Wednesdays. So before I get to the questions and nominations, I must explore the idea of blog awards in general.
So there is no monetary compensation, no prize, no nothing for a blogger award. Seems a bit useless then, right? No. Because as an up-and-hopefully-coming blogger, I understand that it just feels good to get an award. You feel like someone out there actually cares about the strangeness that you post in your little corner of the blogosphere. So there may be no tangible prize, but feeling good about something you are putting time into is priceless. It is so easy to get frustrated when blogging, and those little awards really do mean something. So thank you, award creators and nominators and receivers out there.

Back to the point.
So essentially, you get nominated and you answer these questions. Then you spread your little fairy wings and nominate others with your wand of good cheer. Translated into how people who are not children's writers speak: You nominate other people.

What is your favorite dessert?
That is like asking a parent to choose a favorite child. But frankly, I am an ice cream person. Cherry vanilla is always good, Butter Pecan feels indulgent. But then again, creme brulee is a rare and heavenly treat. But good, homemade apple tart cannot be beaten. But wait, my sister makes the best chocolate truffles. And my favorite Indian dessert is ras malai (Essentially blocks of spongy cottage cheese in sweet, flavorful milk. Divine).
You get it. I am a dessert-o-holic. But I love when I can make "dessert", which is food that tastes like dessert but is actually good(ish) for you. Hint hint, post about this coming up. And speaking of posts coming up, sorry about the fact that I was hinting at a nail tutorial that never came. I kind of lost the pictures, so that is not really happening. I swear on the River Styx I will make it up to you.
Back to the point.

When you're upset, what do you do?
I write or I read. Writing is so calming. When your thoughts are on paper, they actually make sense. I love when they make sense. That jumbled mess in your head becomes meaningful poetry when you take time to write them down. Side note, I should post more writing.

What was your favorite pet?
My older sister? Never had one, in the literal sense. But my sister is an interesting character. Kind of like an every-awesome-pet-combined-into-one-that-can-talk-and-make-you-laugh pet sister.
I also love my best friend's dog. My dream pet is a border collie.

What do you prefer to wear, black or white?
White is impractical, but black is too dark. I would say white, because who doesn't love their PWT. Then again, I gravitate towards cooler colors. But frankly, I like color and prints.

What is your biggest fear?
Do I have to share this? As a silly fear, I really cannot stand banana peels. NO I AM NOT SCARED OF SLIPPING. But they are just gross and creepy. But otherwise, I fear failure. I have set very high standards for myself, and if I do not reach them, well, I can't even think about that. I will reach them. The problem is, sometimes, when you set goals for yourself, you become so preoccupied that you forget to do things like care about your friends and not talk about school and complain 24/7. I am worried that competition is taking over and that I am becoming harder to talk to because of my one-track-mind.

What is your attitude mostly?
I am the hopeful pessimist. Hope for the best, expect the worst. I mean, I am a notorious pessimist. I am too scared to be optimistic because I do not want to be let down. But I am getting better.

What is perfection to you?
Right now, I have a narrow minded, teenager perspective. Perfection for me can be manifested in GPA, test scores, and results. But outside of school, perfection can only come if you keep working on what you have. It is unattainable, but at the same time, it has to be your goal. If you reach for perfection, you can get so close that you are essentially perfect. Kind of like how a number can be called 0 when it is so close to 0 that they are essentially the same.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Food-wise, definitely dark chocolate. Or maybe any frozen dessert. Also watching Food Network and Jane by Design. Love that show. Oh, and style-stalking and window-shopping. Hey, there are very fashionable people and mannequins out there waiting to be copied.

Now for my nominations. I chose 5 because 5 is just enough to make you feel special without being too exclusive.

Inspired by Mom...Orange Pants

I really wanted those orange pants. My mom bought them for me as a gift. They were too long and too big. Unfortunately, they have been handed up, to the original gift-giver. So here is an outfit inspired by the pants that I cannot have.

The pants
These pants are the epitome of classy and cool. Modern,
funky, and timeless. Love them to death. I
could not find a nice white shirt for a good price online, but pair
with something similar to the shirt below.

 Jeans
These less ORANGE orange pants
are more casual. With the shoes I have chosen (see
below), you can throw in a little print mixing, whether
you choose the wedges or the flats.

necklace
Just adorable.
White shirt
The quality of this picture is terrible, but the
shirt is beautiful. A blank canvas for the necklace
that still has enough detail to be anything
but plain.

shoe 1
If you choose orange jeans instead of the pants,
which are a bit fancy for daytime, wear these simple, statement
making shoes.
Shoe 2
You will need fancier yet still casual shoes for the fancier
pants or for the jeans on a night out. These wedges
are minimalist but still exciting.

Musical Monday: My Recital Piece

If you care to listen to an aspiring opera singer sing, listen. If you do not care to do so, still listen. Must I resort to begging? Anyway, I love music. Music lets you express yourself. It lets you just be, be a star, be poetic and beautiful and amazing, ish. Singing is probably my favorite thing to do, besides sleeping. Vocal music is just warm and wonderful and passionate and perfect. Perfect.
I posted my favorite. "Mandoline" by Faure. It is magical

Summer Reading Survey, before I have to do the Real Deal

I found this survey on Fashion or Fiction, and it seemed interesting, so I gave it a try. And it is convenient. Copy and paste it from someone else and change the answers. Easy for a lazy person, like myself.

1. Favorite childhood book?
Tales of Martha B Rabbit or Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse. Martha B Rabbit was so motherly and comforting and sensible, and Lilly was just the opposite. Dramatic, crazy, a diva, but still lovely.

2. What are you reading right now?
1984  and Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking

3. What books do you have on request at the library?
The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan. A guilty pleasure.

4. Bad book habit?
Reading the same book (usually an easy read) to procrastinate reading a classic that I have borrowed. Also reading my mom's magazines instead of my books. For some reasons I really enjoy Prevention and Reader's Digest.

5. What do you currently have checked out at the library?
Emma, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Clockwork Orange, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, and 1984. Must. Read. Faster.

6. Do you have an e-reader?
MOST CERTAINLY NOT. I abhor them, loathe them. Reading is about the experience of seeing and smelling and reading the memories in the pages. The e-reader ruins the experience completely. Ugh. This e-reader debate is on that I am very passionate about.

7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?
One or 2. Usually one is difficult and one is very easy. I try to read 1, but I get distracted, so I move on and come back (maybe, see bad book habit).

8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog?
I think I start paying attention more to books that I read b/c I want to write a review, but probably not.

9. Least favorite book you read this year (so far?)
Not really sure. I put it down if I do not like it. I guess from school, when I read The Pine Barrens, I will be bored to tears b/c it is apparently excruciating. Also, I had to read Salem Witch Judge: The Life and Repentance of Samuel Sewall. I thought it would be a psychological analysis, but it was just boring.

10. Favorite book you’ve read this year?
Life of Pi was incredibly original. Pride and Prejudice was of course lovely, and Lone Wolf was another masterpiece by Jodi Picoult.

11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone?
Well, classics are out of my comfort zone, but I have to read them.

12. What is your reading comfort zone?
Realistic fiction (Jodi Picoult), some fantasy (HP) and I guess any book that is engaging. I really do not know.

13. Can you read on the bus?
I do not go on a bus frequently, but I can read in the car. I can read when there is so much noise I can only think or go insane or when there is silence.

14. Favorite place to read?
The lofted chair in my room, couch, anywhere quiet. It changes. I can't read in the same place for a long time.

15. What is your policy on book lending?
Don't really care as long as I get it back. Since I usually borrow books from the library, I do not really lend books anyway.

16. Do you ever dog-ear books?
Yes. Quite frequently. For school, I dog-ear for interesting quotes because sticky notes do not stick and I need the quotes for essays, and I dog-ear instead of using bookmarks. I mean, I love then, but I can't find them when I need them.

17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books?
No. If I need to write, I take notes on a separate sheet of paper.

18. Not even with text books?
Well, I might occasionally stab my book with pencil when I am angry, but I do not write.

19. What is your favorite language to read in?
English? I can't read in other languages.

20. What makes you love a book?
The fact that it makes me think. Although, it cannot be so confusing that I want to tear my hair out. I mean, pixie cut. The hair never comes out (thank goodness).

21. What will inspire you to recommend a book?
If it is mind -blowingly unique, by J.K. Rowling, makes me cry (only 2 thus far), enlightens me, or is beautifully written.

22. Favorite genre?
The bildungsroman.

23. Genre you rarely read (but wish you did?)
Sci-Fi and non-fiction.

24. Favorite biography?
I need to read more of these. I am going to read Growing Up for school, and apparently it is amazing.

25. Have you ever read a self-help book?
I am working on one now, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, but I do not think it is true self-help. I guess not.

26. Favorite cookbook?
I make up my own based on ones I find online.

27. Most inspirational book you’ve read this year (fiction or non-fiction)?
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, Lone Wolf, Life of Pi (inspired me to write in an inspirational manner, does that make sense?).

28. Favorite reading snack?
Really anything. I like food and I like books. It just has to be easy to eat.

29. Name a case in which hype ruined your reading experience.
Not very sure...I guess My Sister's Keeper was not as good as I expected it to be.

30. How often do you agree with critics about a book?
I do not really read criticisms, but depends which critics.

31. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews?
I only give bad reviews if I had to read the book for school.

32. If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you choose?
I am not sure. I think French would be interesting, and I should be able to read in it. I took it for four years. I think better Latin skills would help with Caesar and Virgil next year.

33. Most intimidating book you’ve ever read?
The Bluest Eye. I read it last year for outside reading. I loved it, but I did not get any help and it was my fist Toni Morrison, so it was a bit much.

34. Most intimidating book you’re too nervous to begin?
Russian literature in general.  I would like to read Anna Karenina, but I am too scared to even borrow it.

35. Favorite Poet?
Robert Frost, so far. I love writing poetry, but I am not ready to read a lot of it. Frost's poetry is beautiful.

36. How many books do you usually have checked out of the library at any given time?
Depends. School year= none. Summer= about 8.

37. How often have you returned book to the library unread?
All too many times.

38. Favorite fictional character?
Hermione Granger.

39. Favorite fictional villain?

Severus Snape.

40. Books you’re most likely to bring on vacation?
Magazines.  It's hard to get into a book on vaca.

41. The longest you’ve gone without reading.
For fun, like a month. But otherwise there is usually something to read.

42. Name a book that you could/would not finish.
Jane Eyre. I will have to read it sometime, I know, but I tried twice and could not get to the interesting part. I mean, I have guessed what happens next, but next is yet to come.

43. What distracts you easily when you’re reading?
Sleep, food, Harry Potter, a magazine, a bug, sleep.

44. Favorite film adaptation of a novel?
 Some of the Harry Potter's.

45. Most disappointing film adaptation?
The rest of the Harry Potter's. I like my details. And they add some stuff to "jazz it up" that ruins the movie. And  My Sister's Keeper was pretty good as a book, but I could not finish the film.

46. The most money I’ve ever spent in the bookstore at one time?
I do not really buy books, but textbooks and prep books are very expensive.

47. How often do you skim a book before reading it?
Almost never. Why ruin the fun?

48. What would cause you to stop reading a book half-way through?
Time, a more interesting book, boredom.

49. Do you like to keep your books organized?
By height?

50. Do you prefer to keep books or give them away once you’ve read them?
Well, I borrow them, so I do not have much of an option.

51. Are there any books you’ve been avoiding?
Too many to count.

52. Name a book that made you angry.
Well, I like being angry when I read if I am angry at a character. None thus far have made me angry at the author. Well, none off the top of my head. Actually Looking for Alaska. Why do teenagers like myself destroy themselves with drugs etc? Drugs bother me a lot.

53. A book you didn’t expect to like but did?
Quiet  and Beloved. That was an unexpected favorite. Also, so many people I know hated The Scarlet Letter, but I loved it. And The Fault in Our Stars. That made me cry. One of 2, ever. And The Secret Life of Bees. And Pride and Prejudice initially.

54. A book that you expected to like but didn't?
Jane Eyre, My Sister's Keeper ( I liked it, but Jodi Picoult has written books that are so much better), and Looking for Alaska. My friend and my English teacher both loved it, but it bothered me.

55. Favorite guilt-free, pleasure reading?
Harry Potter, Jodi Picoult.

Awkward and Awesome Debut

Yes, it is called Awkward and Awesome Thursday, but let's just pretend, ok? I joined on a Friday.
Since yesterday was the last day of school (I did not go, such a rebel, I know), I decided to do a school edition of awkward and awesome moments during the year.

1. Being the one of the few eager students who shows up on the last day of school. That was yours truly for a long time.
2. Singing the wrong note, with pride no less, in an ensemble where you can be heard, loud and clear.
3. Noticing that a teacher has spelled something incorrectly or has said something that is incorrect, but hesitating to correct him because you know he has control over your grade.
4. Seeing a teacher in a grocery store. Trying to hide behind your mom. Failing miserably.
5. When your teacher tells an incredibly awkward and possibly NSFW, or in this case, for school, story in class and everybody laughs hesitatingly because we are not sure if he is serious or trying to be funny or judging us based on whether we laugh or not.
6. Laughing after said story when your friend rolls her eyes from the other side of the classroom. Delayed reaction. Sort of.
7. When you remember how to do a problem on a final when the bell rings telling you to stop, drop your pencil, and roll it away from you. See what I did there? Clever, I know. Maybe?

Awesome:
1. When you just get and A. Like a 92.5, round up to an A kind of A.
2. When your writing gets published in the school magazine, despite the fact that you heard your classmates who were reading it to accept it or reject it initially saying, in rather loud voices, that the piece was horrible.
3. When finals are over a day early for you because you do not have to take a biology final if you are in AP. More importantly, when you get to mock your friends about it. Ok. I did not do that . Out loud.
Now to do with summer vacation. i.e, anti-school.
4. When you have time to just sit! and finish Pride and Prejudice. It was amazing. A classic that  has the drama of modern reality tv but is fantastically written without the awkwardness and the guilt.
5. When you realize that your BMR allows you to eat like 300 more calories than you thought you could eat.  Ice cream, here I come!
6. When you taste homemade guacamole for the first time. Never ever getting the freezer stuff again!
7. Air conditioning. Nuff said.

Mint and Coral for Bloggers Do it Better

I just joined the challenge, and I was so excited to see that the latest theme was mint and coral. I know you have seen these clothes already, but the combination is new. And they are the only mint/coral pieces I own. Well, I have mint tights, but thinking of tights in making me sweat in this 95 degree weather. Anyway, BDIB seems like an exciting way to explore the latest trends by shopping your own closet, so I am excited for future challenges to push my fashion envelope.
So check out all the awesome outfits here.
And I did not wear this all day, because the polyester shirt made me want to gag. Sorry to say I changed into track shorts and a tee-shirt. This is why I do not post fashion every day :)

Yogurt Parfait with Cereal

I love greek yogurt. As a vegetarian, I do not get too much protein, so it is great. And although the price is a bit much, there is usually at least 1 brand on sale every week. Because it has been in the 90s this week, I decided that I cannot bear to eat piping hot oatmeal. So I chose to eat the easiest breakfast ever. Greek yogurt parfait. I used cereal instead of granola. Same crunch, but easier and better for you in some cases
Ingredients
A handful of your favorite cereal
Chopped almonds
1 single serve container of plain greek yogurt (seriously, get the plain kind. You get more protein and less sugar for your money because unfortunately fruit-on-the-bottom is really sugary-jam-on-the-bottom. Add some honey if you gag eating the plain stuff.)
5 strawberries, cut into fourths
Some frozen blueberries (Personally, I do not like the fresh kind, but if you like them, use them. And I keep the frozen because it is hot and the alternative is eating ice.)

1. Put alternating strips of yogurt and strawberry in a bowl
2. Top the yogurt with cereal(s) ( I used Cheerios and Special K)
3. Top with blueberries and almonds.
4. Try to eat it like a lady. Give up on pretense and shovel it into your mouth.

Alternative procedure for those who do not care if food looks pretty
1.Combine strawberries, blueberries, and yogurt. Top with cereal and nuts. Shovel it into your mouth.

Midweek Musings: The Bliss of Having Time

Calvin and Hobbes

Summer vacation means actually reading the books I have wanted to read for a long time. It means swapping textbooks for stories, re-reading Harry Potter for the umpteenth time, taking naps (one of my favorite pastimes), wearing dresses (sans the cardigans) and just relaxing. And I could not be happier. On the 1st day of summer, it is a murderous 95 degrees, but I can stay in the glorious air-conditioned indoors and finish Jane Eyre, watch "Food Network Star," pick up on that exercise regime, and NOT start summer hw until late August, when reality comes crashing in. Actually, I probably will start next week, but this is only because I have to email my teacher my progress. Don't worry, I will stay true to my blog title.

Anyway, what do you guys like to do in the summer? What is your favorite aspect of having less work to do?

And I recently realized that Calvin and Hobbes are named after the philosophers. Interesting choices. Calvin, with predestination and the fear of suffering in the Underworld, and Hobbes, who believed human nature is evil and selfish and needs to be controlled by an absolute government.

Inspired by Airport...Yellow and Blue

I would do a post inspired by school, but during finals, people show up in pjs and sweats. Not very fashionable. However, when I was dropping someone off at the airport, I saw someone in a not-very-comfortable-looking, but-nevertheless-awesome, perfect-for-summer outfit.
Maxi Dress
While the woman I was inspired by
was wearing bright yellow skinny jeans, I
found this dress while I was looking for the jeans,
and the dress is so summery. Perfect for an airplane
b/c it is a maxi dress, so you will stay warm if you
throw a cardigan on top, but when you reach your
hopefully sunny destination, you will be dressed
for the weather.
And yes, I know that I have advocated against F21, but
the dress is so cute. And cheap. And you can find better dresses
on the sale rack at a store like Macy's. Remember,
this is just inspiration.
Wedges
Wedges are the ultimate summer shoes. They are
great for a day or a night look. These ones are sturdy,
cute, and neutral, so they will go with many outfits.

cardigan
Everyone needs at least 1 colorful cardigan.
This blue one is lovely with the dress for a
bold look.

Banana Smoothie, Jazzed Up

I could not think of a song for the week, so here is a recipe for a delicious, sinful tasting but not all that bad for you, banana smoothie. Whenever I have gross, mushy bananas, I blend them with milk, but today, as a last-day-of-school, done-with-finals treat, I decided to make it delicious and still somewhat healthy. It is a tad calorically dense, but it has nuts and cocoa and things that taste good that are also amazing.
Also, sorry about the lack of pictures. My sister is using the camera.
Ingredients:
1 small, mushy-ish banana
One cup of skim milk
1 tbsp cocoa powder
About 15 roasted peanuts
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
1 pod of cardamom
A few drops of honey to sweeten

1. Combine the cocoa, peanuts, cinnamon, and cardamom in a mortar and grind them with the pestle. Or, use a blender, but the mortar and pestle releases more flavor, I think. And it is very good for relieving frustration.
2. Combine the banana, the vanilla, and the ground mixture in a blender. I would use a small blender b/c this makes sure that the banana blends smoothly. Mushy banana chunks=death! In my eyes.
3. Blend in 1/2 of the milk.
4. Put the mixture in a glass (a very tall glass) and stir in the rest of the milk. I do not know why, but I think it just tastes better if you do it this way. Feel free to just blend the mixture; it probably tastes exactly the same.

Nutrition Facts
250-300 calories. I know it is a lot, but this stuff is good for you
about 13 grams protein
40-50% calcium, based on 2000 calorie diet. Meaning if you are 5'3 and petite like I am, it is a lot more of your calcium.
Like 5-6 grams dietary fiber
450 mg potassium
etc.
My point, it is bad for your diet, but it is good for your body and your soul.

Mostly Flora, A Little Fauna

I am exhausted, so enjoy.
Coming up... a post acknowledging the award that Demmy from http://demmydaily.blogspot.com/ kindly nominated me for and my 1st nail tutorial!

My sister and I went on a walk yesterday, and we were talking about our future wedding. It's decided. There will be hydrangeas. And possibly daylilies. Periwinkle/lilac and bright orange is my favorite color combination (as of yesterday. Before that it was eggplant and not-too-obnoxious-but-still-bright spring green).

Wish I Had Gone to a Tea Party

This is such a tea party kind of outfit. Classy. Glamorous but not ridiculously overdone. I love it. Yes, when you wear a dress that goes below your knees in my high school, you get awkward stares. Especially when you wear said dress to final exams, when everybody else shows up in pjs. But to be fair, I was dressed up for a piano exam, not the history exam.
Back to the point. I feel glamorous. Like a movie star from an era where movie stars wore dresses that were classy (my pointed remark is not directed at all modern celebrities, just a few of them). All I need is red lipstick and tight curls. And maybe small heels. Like kitten heels. (Random side note, I honestly do not know why people hate these so much. An extra inch without the pain. Count me in.) But I am a not-so-polished teenager with a pixie cut. Who does not wear make up (unless it is crazy eye shadow that I put on at Sephora when I go to redeem my free birthday gift. Birthday Cake soap!!!) So not happening.
By the way, here is a tip. Don't wear the most painful shoes you own and then go on a small 5 mile walk with your sister.
Dress w/ belt-Calvin Klein- bought on sale for $15
Vera Bradley wallet- gift
Sunglasses- Steve Madden- Buy 1, get 1 free (for sis)
Shoes-Circa Joan David- $17, I only wear them b/c I couldn't return them, I lost the box!

No, I Have Not Forgotten

This is that week. Recital week. Audition week. Finals week. Stress week. I oath on the River Styx that I will be back, stress free and (hopefully) better than every by next Tuesday. Until then, adieu.

Musical Monday: Queen of the Night

Please, hear me out. It is classical. It sounds like a whistle. It is rather scary. I know, I know. But she is amazing. So dramatic. So powerful. So phenomenal. I want to be a coloratura (soprano who can sing the highest notes, like the ridiculous ones she hits), but I still like being a lyric soprano with a richer voice. But this lady just wows me. She is truly an artist. And plus, how can you not like Mozart?

Going Crazy and Seen around School...Lavender and Gray

I think I can say I am a horrible blogger, judging by the fact that until last night, I forgot that I was a blogger. I am going slightly crazy. Sorry. It is just the even though APs are over, we have so many projects and final exams that these last few weeks of school will be quite hectic.

Anyway, since my outfits have been rather pathetic this week (no sweats, I promise), I am going to do another seen at school post.

This week, lavender jeans. I love obnoxious bold neon orange as much as the next fashion blogger, but lavender is such a lovely color for spring. Paired with gray stripes, the combination is classic and perfect for a rainy day. Muted, but by no means dreary. Love it.
F21 shorts
I am sorry the model was wearing a crop top.
Love the shorts because they look so comfortable.
I wanted more muted lavender skinny jeans, but I could
not find and affordable pair, so this brighter pair of
shorts brings the look into summer!
gray stripes
Simple. Classic. Necessary. Comfortable.
That says it all.

Varsity
If you are confident and edgy, wear the look with
this bold jacket. It is awesome and it will create some subtle
print mixing.
